Greenville, SC (October 11, 2011) --- Chart-topping singer/songwriter Edwin McCain has personally organized a very special concert event on October 26th to raise funds for local breast cancer support organizations. Edwin McCain & Friends, Benefitting Breast Cancer Charities will be held at Lighthouse on the Creek (located at 100 Church Street, Mt. Pleasant SC), an intimate concert open to all ages with a pre-show cocktail reception hosted by McCain. Tickets will go on sale beginning Tuesday, October 11th at 5:00pm ET via (click here for tickets!) and range from $35 to $70. A portion of every ticket sold will benefit Komen Lowcountry and The Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC.
McCain recently revealed to the Greenville News that his wife, Christy, was diagnosed with breast cancer and has undergone surgery that appears to be successful. Usually very private, Christy’s experience inspired McCain to become involved in fundraising efforts and to speak out about the necessity of early detection. “If one person goes out and gets a mammogram and catches cancer early and saves her life because you were blabbing about it on stage, then blab away,” McCain said his wife advised him. Within weeks, he organized Edwin McCain & Friends, Benefitting Breast Cancer Charities, with plans for more throughout the country in the coming months

"I want to apologize to the folks who were planning on coming out to those concerts and am really grateful for your understanding and patience," the singer/songwriter said.
The newly rescheduled dates are expected to be available shortly.

Edwin McCain, the intrepid singer songwriter with the voice that launched a thousand weddings (courtesy of his Top 5 single "I'll Be" and the hits "I Could Not Ask For More" and "Walk With You") has signed with 429 Records and is putting the finishing touches on his new album "MERCY BOUND." McCain's proven gift for connecting with listeners on deep emotional levels through his evocative voice and songwriting has fueled a 20 year career and on "MERCY BOUND," that talent is in full flower. On this, his tenth album, however, McCain has introduced a new dynamic by reconnecting with fellow singer songwriter Maia Sharp (who performed a duet with McCain in 2004). Their ongoing musical interaction over the years continued to grow providing McCain with the ideal opportunity to mix things up. The result is "MERCY BOUND." Produced by Sharp, the album flows with McCain's unmistakable style, yet hints at a newfound sense of collaboration and interpretation. Providing additional artistic input are songwriters Angie Aparo, Mark Addison, Anders Osborne and the guitar talents of Warren Haynes. 429 Records will release "MERCY BOUND" on August 30th.
On first listen, McCain and his band have created a classic Edwin album. Sharp's and the other's contributions to McCain's album are subtly apparent whether in the way they poignantly turn a phrase or in Sharp's breathlessly gorgeous vocals on the duet "Uncharted." Says Edwin: "As we were making this album, we wrote together exclusively on a bunch of the tracks, and then she threw me a few songs she wrote herself. A lot of the time, when you go from a female to a male voice, it doesn't really work, but for me, it was almost like she was watching me on closed circuit TV. Sometimes I think your ego tricks you into thinking, 'I have to write everything,' but, no, you don't have to write everything, you just have to love it." Edwin, always the tireless performer, will embark on an extensive tour this year. Maintaining a solid 20 year tour history, Edwin continues to garner new fans on the road with veteran band members Craig Shields (sax, keys) and Larry Chaney (lead guitar), rounding out the compelling band lineup with Markeya "Tez" Sherard (drums) and Jason Pomar (bass). We are thrilled to announce that Edwin and the band will be headed overseas in late April through mid-May to play for the United States Troops abroad. While we are unable to release the full routing for security reasons, the tour will be visiting various countries in Europe, along with stops in the Middle East and Persian Gulf.
